Curriculum Vitae
Since October 2020 Anna Steigemann works as Professor for the Sociological Dimensions of Space ('Space, City, Community) at the Department for Interdisciplinary Multi-Scalar Area Studies at University Regensburg. Before she worked as postdoc and professor at different urban and social science institutes at TU Berlin, the CUNY Graduate Center, TU Dortmund, Bauhaus-University Weimar and Humoldt University of Berlin. Her main current research projects are the SFB 1265 Refigurations of Space, Fairville (Horizone Europe), Transforming Solidarities. Practices and Infrastructures in the Migration Society (BUA/DFG), Pandemic Sex: COVID 19 and Queer Community Spaces (Alexander von Humboldt Foundation). Her PhD (2016, TU Berlin) ‘ The Places Where Community is Practiced’ (Springer) is an ethnographic study of a shopping street and the microinteractions that form place attachment and belonging. Before Anna Steigemann studied Social Sciences, Geography, Ethnology and Gender Studies at Humoldt-University Berklin, Columbia University and the CUNY Graduate Center in New York.
