On 8 May 2025 we will welcome Magdalena Nowak to our Regensburg Research Colloquium. She will give a lecture on "The Polish-Ukrainian Reconcilitation Process and Beyond". The lecture will be held in English.

Abstract:
This lecture presents the Polish-Ukrainian reconciliation process (its phases 1989/90-2025) and its historical background: The Polish-Ukrainian Conflict in the 19th and 20th history (the Polish-Ukrainian War 1918-1919, The Volhynia Massacre, The Vistula Action 1947). Current development of the reconciliation and its future perspectives will be also reflected upon during the lecture.

Magdalena Nowak (habil., Assoc. Prof.):
Chair of Division of History of Eastern Europe at the Faculty of History, University of Gdańsk, Poland. In 2023 she was the Louie Brown Scholar at the Valdosta State University, USA. She is the author of 62 scholarly publications (2 monographs and a co-editor of 5 collective monographs). Her latest achievement is a book devoted to the national identification of Archbishop Andrei Sheptytsky (2018, 2023). Recently she has been a PI in the grant of the Ministry of Science and Education. Her research interests: Polish-Ukrainian relations in the 19th and 20th centuries; national integration and religion; biography of Andrei Sheptytsky (1865–1944).
