Teona Ivashchenko holds a BA in Governance and Social Sciences from the Free University of Tbilisi and an MA in Sociology and Social Anthropology from the Central European University. Her master’s thesis, titled 'Communal Hallways of Tbilisi: Thinking Spatially on Everyday Life of Urban Neighbourhoods', analyzes the role of communal hallways in Tbilisi as transitional spaces that shape social interactions, power dynamics, and memory across pre-Soviet, Soviet, and post-Soviet contexts.From 2020 to 2021, she worked as a research assistant on the project 'How Social Capital Affects Academic Performance: A New Approach to Higher Education'. After graduating from the Central European University in 2023, she taught the Introductory Course of Anthropology at both the Free University of Tbilisi and the Agricultural University of Georgia. She is currently a pre-doctoral researcher at the Graduate School for East and Southeast European Studies.Her research interests include urban space, Soviet and Post-Soviet space, infrastructure, and everyday life.
