Doctoral Project
China and Yugoslavia's Approach to African Decolonisation: Case study of the Congo Crisis (1960 - 1965)
Taking the Congo Crisis (1960 - 1965) as a case study, this project examines the involvement of China and Yugoslavia in African decolonisation and the interactions between the Sexond and the Third Worlds during ht early Cold War. Drawing o archival sources, it explores the motivations, approaches, and consequences of their engagement in Africa, with particular attention to ideology, knowledge production, and global strategies. By comparing their differing understandings and practices of decolonisation, the project seeks to demonstrate how actors beyond the superpowers shaped regional conflicts, decolonisation, and international relations during the Cold War.
The study is sponsored by the China Scholarship Council (CSC)
