2018 Habilitation at University of Regensburg. 2006 Doctorate Degree at European University Institute in Florence. 1991–99 History and East and Southeast European Studies at University of Leipzig, Zagreb and Belgrade (M.A. in 1999). 1989–91 teacher training in Russian and German at University of Leipzig and Kaluga with first state examination (Russian) in 1991.
