Since December 2022 Professor for the Dynamics of Virtual Communication Spaces at the University of Regensburg. 2021-2022 Professor of Digital Cultures at the University of Bergen (Norway). 2016-2020 Professor in Digital Humanities and Game Studies and Director of Media and Technology Studies at the University of Alberta (Canada). 2007-2016 Tenure Track Professor of New Media / Digital Culture and Communication at the University of Wales (Bangor, UK). 2006-2007 ESRC Postdoctoral Researcher at the University of Manchester (UK). 2006 doctoral degree with the dissertation “Canonizing Hypertext: Explorations and Constructions” (summa cum laude) at the University of Heidelberg. 2003 Postgraduate Certificate of Teaching and Learning in Higher Education at the University of Leeds (UK). 1. Staatsexamen 2002 (first class honors) at the University of Tübingen.
